Frequently Asked Questions

Most offerings at Yowa Institute operate on a sliding scale.
How to choose your rate:
Full Price: Choose this if you have financial stability, disposable income, savings, or access to generational wealth. Choosing full price directly subsidizes community care and makes sliding scale access possible for others.
Mid-Range: Choose this if you can cover your basic needs (housing, food, healthcare) but have little left over for savings or unexpected expenses. You're stable but not comfortable.
Supported Rate: Choose this if you're managing financial hardship, surviving on low income, or part of communities systematically denied access to wealth (disabled folks, undocumented people, Black and Indigenous communities facing ongoing extraction, etc.).
Barter/Trade: A limited number of barter arrangements are available for those who cannot access sliding scale rates. Reach out to discuss what you can offer in exchange.
The ecosystem works when everyone contributes what they can and receives what they need. Choose the rate that honors both your situation and our collective sustainability.

No. While we work primarily from African Indigenous and diaspora frameworks, our services are open to all who are committed to liberation, decolonizing wellness, and working in right relationship with ancestral practices. Some workshops and circles may be specifically for certain communities, which will be clearly noted.

We primarily work from African Indigenous and diaspora frameworks, drawing on practices that honor interconnection, ancestral wisdom, and earth-based rhythms. We also respect and can incorporate other traditions when appropriate and authentic to facilitator and participants' lineages.

Absolutely. Our offerings meet you where you are. You don't need prior experience with divination, astrology, ancestral practices, or spiritual work. We create accessible entry points for people at all stages of their journey.
